2020 has been an historic year. The global pandemic has affected everyone, every business, every family, our government, our first line workers, educational institutions and, yes the California state bar. Did you ever imagine that the California bar exam would be held in October and online?
If you just took the very first October bar exam ever offered, I have some advice for you. I know that for many October bar examinees that the experience of taking the exam online was extremely challenging.
Results from the October bar exam are expected to come out the first week of January. This will be followed by the February 2021 bar exam. With so little time between results and the next administration of the bar examination my suggestion for anyone waiting for results from October is to study now.
Studying for the bar exam may not seem appealing to you. However, if you continue your studies now and receive failing results, you will be glad that you put in study time early. And, if you receive passing results – and I hope you do – I highly doubt you will be upset that you studied even though you didn’t need to study.
The last thing you want is to receive failing results and realise that now you only have six or seven weeks to study for the February bar exam. So do what you can to get your skills back and continue your studies. Either way, pass or fail, you will not regret having studied.
I will provide some study tips for you in the coming days. Even if you can only spend a few hours a week reviewing essays or completing MBEs, this will be of value should you need to retake the bar exam.
Please follow this blog if you would like to receive updates of free online workshops and study guides! Also, if you took the most recent bar exam, please feel free to share your experience in the comments for this post. If you want to share your experience privately, you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
All the best to everyone waiting for results and for those who plan to take the February 2021 bar exam!
